What Impact You'll Have
We are seeking a skilled
Software Engineer
with 5+ years of experience to join our multi-team agile engineering program. In this hands-on role, you will build, integrate, and deploy reliable backend services, data pipelines, and core software components supporting mission-critical capabilities.
As an individual contributor, you will independently own features throughout the software development lifecycle—from design collaboration and local coding to automated testing, containerized deployment, and production support.
What You'll be Owning
-
Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Python. Deliver clean, modular, and maintainable code adhering to established team standards.
-
Build and maintain reliable interfaces, data contracts, and integration points connecting distributed services, external systems, and event-driven data streams.
-
Author automated unit, integration, and regression test suites to ensure system resilience and data fidelity. Troubleshoot and resolve defects across development and test environments.
-
Profile application execution, database queries, and data workflows to identify bottlenecks, optimize latency, and maintain reliable throughput.
-
Package applications using Docker and manage deployments to Kubernetes clusters using Helm. Work directly within CI/CD pipelines to ensure code quality checks, automated tests, and vulnerability scans run smoothly on every build.
-
Actively participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, and peer code reviews. Translate user stories and interface requirements into working, production-ready software increments.
What You Must Have
-
Active or current
Top-Secret (TS)
security clearance.
-
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline) or equivalent practical experience.
-
5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience building and deploying production applications.
-
Strong, hands-on proficiency with
Python
(backend frameworks, async programming, data structures) and
Bash
scripting for task automation and system-level operations.
-
Practical experience with relational databases—specifically
PostgreSQL
(schema design, index usage, writing performant SQL)—and
Redis
for caching, state management, or message buffering.
-
Proven experience containerizing applications with
Docker
and deploying/troubleshooting workloads in
Kubernetes
using
Helm
.
-
Proficient with
Git
collaborative workflows; regular experience integrating into CI/CD pipelines incorporating automated testing, code linters, and security vulnerability scanning.
-
Demonstrated ability to independently deliver user stories, navigate existing codebases, and write defensive, testable code.
What Would be Nice to Have

Active or current
Top-Secret clearance with SCI access and polygraph
(TS/SCI with poly).
-
Privileged User eligibility
(CompTIA Security+ certification, DoD 8570 IAT Level II, or equivalent).
-
Experience with distributed messaging or event-driven patterns (e.g., message brokers, pub/sub architectures).
-
Familiarity with microservices architecture and standard API design patterns (REST, gRPC).
-
Exposure to monitoring, observability, and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) within Kubernetes environments.
-
Knowledge of space-to-ground architectures, interface standards, Command and Control (
C2
) systems, or Mission Management (
MM
) systems.
